Obituary for Rosella L. Adams (Long)

Rosella L. Adams, 98, passed away December 19, 2014 at the home of her daughter, Nancy Prince in Gamber.

Mrs. Adams was born in Cockeysville, Maryland. As a young girl she lived on the family farm in Worthington Valley. The farm had been purchased by her father, Charles Henry Long from Edward Worthington. Mr. Long worked the farm, was a carpenter and a renowned authority on bees and beekeeping which brought him great joy. Her Mother, Elsie Fowble Long was a homemaker.

One of seven children Rosella is predeceased by Carroll Long (1954), John S. Long (1983), Lee H. Long (1990), Raymond Long (1999), Etta Allers (2006), and James (Toby) Long 2011.

The Long family moved from their farm to the home of their Grandfather, Edwin Fowble in order to take care of him through an illness. Although they still owned and worked the farm. Their home at 127 Main Street in Reisterstown was directly across from the former Franklin High School where Rosella graduated in 1933. The Main Street home remained in the family for 264 years.

After graduating from FHS Rosella went to work at Green Spring Valley Hunt Club in Garrison. Her career included position from Executive Secretary to Manager and spanned 40 years.

In 1944 she married Frank Raymond Adams, together they built a house on West Chatsworth Ave in Reisterstown where they raised their two children, Nancy Prince of Gamber and Frank (Bo) Adams of Marina Del Rey, Ca. Her husband Frank passed away in 1992 just shy of their 50th wedding anniversary. Rosella remained in her Reisterstown home for 61 years. A remarkable woman, she was still cutting grass on her John Deere tractor at the age of 90. She moved to her daughter’s home at the age of 97.

She will be remember for many things but her sweet nature, uplifting personality and kind words and generosity made her special. She was a true lady who always saw the very best in everyone and never uttered an unkind word.

Along with her two children she is survived by 4 Grandchildren, Gina Miller of Woodbine, Alicia Grogan of Monkton, Bridget Gutierrez of Reisterstown and Nicolette Adams of California, along with five Great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends at the Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road (at Franklin Blvd.) on Monday 4-7pm. Service will be held on Tuesday 10am at the funeral home. Interment in All Saints’ Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.ElineFuneralHome.com
