Dorothy Edith Abbott, 82, of Manchester, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2015 at Carroll Hospital Center. Born March 22, 1933 in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Louise Shipley. She was the wife of the late John W. "Reds" Abbott, Sr.

She had been a homemaker and loved playing bingo, shopping and spending time with her family.

Surviving are children, John W. Abbott, Jr. and wife Dawn of Littlestown, PA, Janice C. Spencer and husband Joe of Reisterstown, MD, Joyce Abbott Rill and husband Brian of Manchester, MD and Jeffrey D. Abbott and wife Nancy of Stevensville, MD, grandsons, Jason Abbott, Daniel Abbott, Christopher Spencer, Shawn Spencer; granddaughters, Nicole Wilson, Rachel Abbott, Gabrielle Abbott, Valerie Abbott, Jessie Abbott; great-granddaughters, Aubrianne Abbott, Shayla Abbott; and great-grandsons, Gilligan Abbott, Corbin Spencer.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 21, 2015, 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at ELINE FUNERAL HOME, 934 S. Main Street, Hampstead, MD. Memorial services will be held on Thursday at 7:30 pm at the Eline Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157 or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101.
