Obituary for Richard Franklin Vane

Richard Franklin  Vane
Richard F. Vane, 85, of Hampstead, MD passed away on January 31, 2016. Born October 31, 1930 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Allen and Margaret (Franklin) Vane and the husband of Erma Morris Vane of Hampstead, MD.

He was a graduate of Polytechnic Institute and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Richard worked for 23 years at Black and Decker until his retirement. He was a member of Greenmount United Methodist Church. Richard enjoyed bowling, card games, and softball. His family remembers him as being quite the “handyman” around the home, where he helped his children with many household projects. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Richard is predeceased by his parents and sister, Dorothy Bennett.

Besides his beloved wife of 63 years, he is survived by his four sons: Richard Vane, Jr. and wife Sheree of Palatine, IL, Stephen Vane and wife Sarah of Columbia, SC, Jeffrey Vane and wife Kelly of Street, MD, Robert Vane and wife Jamie of Lake Worth, FL; daughter, Catherine Vane and husband William Cherneski of Hampstead, MD;
16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Vane and two sisters: Virginia Stroh, and Beverly Despeaux and
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 10:00am to time of service at the Eline Funeral Home - 2901 Bloom Road, Finksburg, MD followed by a memorial service at 11:00am. Pastor Melissa Rudolph will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to the Greenmount United Methodist Church, 2001 Hanover Pike, Hampstead, MD 21074.
