Obituary for Johnny Dark

Johnny  Dark
Johnny Dark, 82, of Reisterstown passed away on September 15, 2016 at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was born on July 31, 1934 in Cambridge, MA to the late Albert Bennett, Sr. and Mona (nee Perry) Bennett. He was married to the late Colleen Ann (nee McCarty) Dark.

Johnny Dark worked in the radio business for 63 years. He was best known from stations WCAO, WBIG and WTTR. He was recently inducted into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame and received the Lifetime Achievement Award. He enjoyed helping people create memories by DJ’ing weddings, high school reunions and special events. Mr. Dark was an avid fan of the Boston Celtics, Baltimore Ravens and Orioles. He even threw out the 1st pitch at the O’s game on his 80th birthday. He was a board member of the Children’s Cancer Foundation and a US Army veteran.

He is survived by his daughter Danielle M. Lister of Bel Air, MD; son Alan J. Dark and his wife Tracy McMaster-Dark of Timonium; son Brian S. Dark of Owings Mills; daughter Michelle L. Dark of Reisterstown; grandchildren Caitlyn, McKenzie, Summer, Tyler, Reeves, Allison, Max, Paige, Cavan and Breana; great grandchild Jacoby Lawrence.

Family will receive friends at the Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown, MD on Sunday and Monday 3-5 &7-9pm. Service will be held on Tuesday 10am at the funeral home. Interment in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
