Obituary for Earl M. Tickler

Earl M.  Tickler
Earl Michael Tickler, 93, of Catonsville, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at his daughter's home. He was born June 3, 1923 in Daggett, MI. He was the husband of the late Ida M. (Harkonen) Tickler.

He was a WWII Army veteran, having served in the Pacific. He graduated from RETS Electronic School, then earned his BAS from Sienna Heights college. He was an educator at RETS and the founder of TESST Electronic School in Hyattsville, MD. He was an active member of numerous electronic organizations, VFW, American Legion and Westview Citizen Patrol. He shared a special lifelong bond with daughter Karen, valued strengthening ties with family and friends through his travels, and in recent years, spent treasured time with Dottie Harske.

Surviving are daughters, Iris Gunning and husband Bill, Karen Tickler and Donna Tehansky, all of Hampstead, MD; brother, William Tickler of Manchester, NH; also survived by 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son Michael Tickler

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at ELINE FUNERAL HOME, 934 S. Main Street, Hampstead, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 19 at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 65 Sacred Heart Lane, Glyndon, MD. Interment will be in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ARC of Carroll County, 180 Kriders Church Road, Westminster, MD 21158.
