Grandfather of Daphni Steffin and her husband Jason, Holley Farley and her husband Josh, Tom McRann, Rebecca, Nick, Michael, and Stephanie Boyd. Great-grandfather of Charlotte and Maisy Farley and Connor Steffin. Brother of Georgia and the late Chuck Costolo, and Marty Lanham and her husband Howard. Also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews, with special closeness to Robert and Carrie Costolo, Steven and Jaimie Costolo, Austin and Jayni Lanham, Mark and Meredith Lanham, Amanda and Michael Szabo, Patrick Hunninghake and Lyon Stewart, and Jon Ransome and Michelle Spafford. He leaves behind many loving friends and family.

Lou was born in Baltimore in the Pelham neighborhood going to school at Montebello Elementary, Hamilton Junior High School, and City College High School. He served in the Army National Guard and was federalized to assist his hometown during the riots after the death of Martin Luther King. He began his career in the pharmaceutical industry and retired as a Vice President of Sales for Sandoz/Novartis Pharmaceuticals in Manhattan; he was a leader to over 200 salesman, 25 brokers, and was respected as a tough and honest businessman. Lou played soccer and tennis throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed singing, reading, fishing, animals, swimming, and all sports!

Lou was a devoted father to Donna and Debbi, and made every weekend basketball game and cheerleading event, commuting from the Big Apple. Their childhood was filled with memories of road trips with games and singing, including trips visiting family throughout Maryland’s Eastern Shore to Montgomery and Carroll Counties. He met Mary in 1986 and they were married in 1994. He looked forward to spending time with his grand and great grandchildren, and started many traditions during the annual Ocean City family vacation with all of the families. Lou was active member of the American Legion since 1998, and participated in many events with his wife, Mary. He served as the Legion Chaplain, the Chairman of the AL Home committee, and a member of the Home and Executive Committees.

His ongoing health issues may have fractured his body and mind, but his spirit remained whole. Lou and his family are grateful for the relief and care that he received at Gilchrist Hospice. He left us sooner than expected, and we encourage family and friends who were not able to visit to share their thoughts with him…we believe he will understand.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

Friends may call at the ELINE FUNERAL HOME 11824 Reisterstown Road (at Franklin Blvd.) on Tuesday 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. A rosary service will be held at 8:30pm. A memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday 12noon at the Sacred Heart Church in Glyndon. Interment is Private.
