Life Story for Ellen Margaret Cronhardt

Ellen Margaret Cronhardt, age 89, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 22, 2018 with family and friends at her side. She lived her entire life in the same home on Chestnut Ridge, Baltimore County, Maryland.

She was predeceased by her parents, Myron A. Cronhardt and Eva J. Forwood Cronhardt, her sisters, Bessie C. Lippy and Nancy L. Cronhardt, and brother Charles A. Cronhardt. She is survived by her brother Robert S. Cronhardt and his wife M. Diana Cronhardt, and her sister Ruth Cronhardt Sedicum. She is also survived by nieces Susan L. Douglas, D. Carol Wellner, Jan E. Stark, Donna S. Surber and Sue Y. Hansen, and nephew Bruce A. Cronhardt. She also had many grand-nieces and nephews, and several great-grand-nieces and nephews. She was blessed to have several dear friends as well, Wilma C. Lescallette and Elizabeth Bull, both deceased.

Ellen attended the Dover Road School and Franklin High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science and a Masters in Arts from the University of Maryland. She taught Physical Education at Sparrows Point and Franklin High Schools in Baltimore County from 1948 to 1979.

Ellen was very active in Carroll’s Methodist Church (later Carroll’s Gills United Methodist Church) in Lutherville. She was very interested in Baltimore County history, antiques, collectibles, traveling and opera. Her family and friends were very important to her.

We would like to thank her excellent care-givers from Help at Home Services, and the team from Gilchrist Home Hospice care. She was blessed to have you with her.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, July 7 at Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Rd., Reisterstown, Md. 21136.
