Life Story for Shirley May Raver (Allgire)

Shirley May Raver, 87, of Manchester, passed away Saturday October 6, 2018 at her home

Born January 12, 1931 in Hampstead, she was the daughter of the late Herbert W. and Grace Elseroad Allgire. She was the wife of the late Thomas A. Raver, her husband of 67 years, who died in 2017.

Mrs. Raver was a 1948 graduate of Hampstead High School and was class secretary. She was a member of the Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company drill team. She had worked for Wheeler Chevrolet and she was the business manager for Thomas A. Raver Insurance Agency, which she owned with her husband for 35 years. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Hampstead, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She loved working in her flower gardens, listening to the songbirds and watching the Baltimore Orioles. She enjoyed traveling and had visited all 50 states, Europe and Bermuda.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Herbert E., Sr. and Linda Raver of Hampstead, Fay A. and Kenneth Miller, and Glenn T. and Dawn Raver, all of Manchester; grandchildren, Herbert Raver, Jr., Jaclyn Raver, Thomas Raver, Laura Araujo, Johnathon Raver, Adam Raver, Sr., Kristen Miller, Kurt Miller, Benjamin Raver, and Dana Raver; nine great-grandchildren; and brother, Robert Allgire of Baldwin, MD.

The family will receive friends Tuesday October 9 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Eline Funeral Home, 934 South Main Street, Hampstead. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 10 at the funeral home with Mr. Mark Mosley officiating. Interment will be in Wesley United Methodist Cemetery, Hampstead.
