Life Story for Bruce R. DeVeas

Bruce R. DeVeas, 58, of Upperco, passed away Thursday October 11, 2018 at the Dove House in Westminster, following a brief illness.

Born May 17, 1960 in Baltimore, he was the son of Margaret Joyce DeVeas Herring of Hampstead and the late William DeVeas. He was the husband of Dawn M. DeVeas, his wife of seven years.

Bruce attended North Carroll High School. He worked in estate maintenance for the R. W. Tracey Company for over thirty years. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 200 in Hampstead. He enjoyed NASCAR and Sprint Car racing.

Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are sons and daughter-in-law, Bruce, Jr. and Heidi DeVeas of Westminster, Nicholas DeVeas of Hampstead; stepdaughters and spouses, Jessica and Ellwood Miles of Westminster, Crystal and Mike Kunkel of Westminster, Bailey Steger of Taneytown; stepson, Bret Mercer and his fiance, Sheri Bare of Frederick; sisters and brothers-in-law, Cheryl and Bob Piazza of Westminster, Valerie and Don Steiner of Hanover, PA, and Shelly and Ed Hubbert of Parkton, MD; 11 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his stepfather, Robert Herring.

The family will receive friends Monday, October 15, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at ELINE FUNERAL HOME, 934 South Main Street, Hampstead. A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m.Tuesday, October 16 at the funeral home.
