Obituary for John M. Lang

John M.  Lang
John Mathias Lang, 99, of Hampstead, passed away on Tuesday December 11, 2018 at Long View Health Care Center in Manchester. Born December 2, 1919 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late John K. and Estie (Ebaugh) Lang.

He was a life member of the Hampstead & Manchester Volunteer Fire Companies, fire police, Sons of the American Legion Post 200, Loyal Order of Moose, Westminster Lodge #1381, Lebanon Lodge #175 A. F. & A. M., Baltimore Forest 45 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Carpenters Union 101, and Bee Hive Club. He had umpired and played in baseball and softball games. He was an active life member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church of Snydersburg, where he rang the church bell on Sunday mornings. John loved bowling, dancing, hunting and bingo. John volunteered at the carnivals, making coffee and running the bingo games.

Surviving are daughters, Beverly A. Martin of Hampstead, Diane Aberts and Sharon Wright, both of Manchester; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Brenda Rohrbaugh and her husband Samuel Rohrbaugh, a brother, Bernard Lang, a son-in-law, Donald Aberts, and his former wife, Elda Lang McVicker.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 3:00 - 5:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at ELINE FUNERAL HOME, 934 S. Main Street, Hampstead. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church of Snydersburg, 1616 Cape Horn Road, Hampstead, with Rev. Michael Adams officiating. Interment will be in Snydersburg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Mark's Lutheran Church of Snydersburg , 1616 Cape Horn Road, Hampstead, MD 21074 or Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
