Obituary for John Hawley Peterson Jr.

John Hawley  Peterson Jr.
On April 9th 2018 John Hawley Peterson Jr. died peacefully at home after an 18 month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on December 29, 1947 in Baltimore.

He was the son of the late Frances and John Peterson of Cockeysville, Md. and Stonington Maine.

He grew up and went to school in Towson and went on to Nottingham Academy in Colora, Md. where he graduated in 1966.

He was employed for nearly his entire working life at Hayward Baker, a Geotechnical Construction Firm whose North American headquarters are located in Odenton, Maryland. It was a job he loved where he left behind many close friends and colleagues. Hawley was a long time member of Alcoholics anonymous. He was sober for 35 years.

He is survived by his loving wife Suzanne Anita Peterson, his stepson Eric Bourne and his wife Jessica and his grandchildren Chase Christopher Bourne and Lily Ann Bourne. His brother Harvey Peterson and his wife Anna and his sister Sally Shanklin, her husband John and a niece Jessica Hawley Shanklin and nephew Christopher Shanklin and his wife Sara.

A celebration of John's life will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 11:00 am at Oregon Ridge - 13401 Beaver Dam Road, Cockeysville, MD.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Gilcrest Hospice or Pancreatic Cancer Research.
