Life Story for Ralph W. Tieman

Ralph W. Tieman, 91, of Leesburg, FL passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2018.

He was born December 30, 1926 to Herbert Tieman and Elsie (Nee McNair) Tieman.

Ralph was married to the love of his life, (Viola) Shirley Adkins, in 1947. Together they shared 56 years of marriage before she passed away in 2003.

Ralph is survived by his sons Richard Tieman and his wife Susan Gibb (both of Bozeman, Montana), Thomas Tieman (Auburn, Maine), and Robert Tieman (Brunswick, Maine); as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two daughters Carole Tieman in 1948, and Susan Tieman in 2013; and one son David Tieman in 1972.

His hobbies included bowling, cribbage, and pinochle; but traveling was his greatest passion.

For most of their time together, Ralph and Shirley spent their summers exploring the country. Together they visited every state in the continental United States. They usually spent summers adventuring and camping with the Maryland Travelers. In their retirement years, they spent much of their time traveling along the east coast starting in Florida and ending in Maine for the leaf change in the fall with a long time in and around Lancaster on the way up and back. He and Shirley went on many trips and cruises and enjoyed life thoroughly seeing each trip as a new adventure. Everyone who knew them knew their infectious smiles and kind spirits.

He and Shirley shared a love for the magical world of Disney, and Ralph spent his final years living in Florida and working as a cast member at Animal Kingdom.

Ralph was an active member of the Masonic Lodge where he was a past Grand Master at Ionic Lodge No. 145; additionally he was a member of The Eastern Star, Maryland Travelers Camping Club, and Telephone Pioneers.
