Obituary for Edward Dennis Murphy

Edward Dennis Murphy, 80, of Sparks Glencoe, passed away on Wednesday August 22, 2018. Born April 3, 1938 in Constable, NY, he was the son of the late Chester and Susan (McMahon) Murphy. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Ann Murphy, his wife of 32 years.

He was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, class of '59, and The George Washington University Law School, class of '63. He attended Salem United Methodist Church. Ed was a patent attorney with Black and Decker in Towson for over 30 years. He successfully shut down the infringement of the Dustbuster patent, one of his most important cases. An avid Notre Dame football fan, he enjoyed photography and spending time with his family.

Surviving in addition to his wife is daughter, Tara Denise Murphy of Baltimore, stepdaughter, Joy Eagan of Sparks, stepson, David Thompson of Sparks, grandson, Steven James Eagan; granddaughter, Nichole Ann Eagan; and nieces, Kathleen Woods and Peggy Falzarano, both of NC, Susan Mould of Virginia and nephews Brian Mould of NY and Bob Mould of CA.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at ELINE FUNERAL HOME, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead, MD. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Salem United Methodist Church, 18217 Falls Road, Hampstead with Rev. Dr. Jarrett Wicklein officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
