Life Story for Charlene Grace Knight

Charlene Knight, born on December 1, 1950, after a heroic battle against ovarian cancer, passed away in her family's care and home on November 6th, 2018. Born and raised in the Arbutus area of Maryland she has been a local resident of Carroll County area for the past decade. In her early life, as a single mom with no support, she worked as beautician while putting herself through college part time. In 1985 she moved to California to provide new opportunities for herself and family. While in California, she worked full time while attending UCLA and Cal State Northridge at night school. She was also a survivor of Northridge California earthquake of 1994. She eventually graduated with a degree in Psychology and a certification in mental wellness counseling. She returned to Maryland in 1998 be closer to her family. During this period, she worked at Johns Hopkins University while also attending college there. For over a decade she assisted top medical professionals in research and development work used to help treat Alzheimer's Disease After JHU, she took a position as a mental wellness councilor and eventually Director of the Mosaic Granite House Center in Westminster. She was a work-a-holic whom loved spending time with her dogs, was politically active, and enjoyed gardening. She is survived by her only son Bryan, her daughter-in-law Dawn and her grandchildren whom she loved dearly- Lukas, Brynn and Payton. By her request, she asked to have a modest private family gathering for her funeral. She will be buried on Monday November 12th, 2018 at Meadow Ridge Park and Cemetery.
