Obituary for Walter Jacob "Jake" Sprinkle

Walter Jacob "Jake"  Sprinkle
Walter Jacob "Jake" Sprinkle, 80, of Upperco, passed away Friday, November 16, 2018 at the Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.

Born October 8, 1938 in Boring, MD, he was the son of the late Charles Albert Sprinkle and the late Bernice Thompson Still. He was the husband of the late Gertrude Elaine Nash Sprinkle, who died in 2007.

Mr. Sprinkle served his country honorably as a U.S. Army veteran during the Bay of Pigs Affair and the early years of the War in Vietnam. He had worked for the Baltimore County Highway Department for over 40 years, retiring as a crew chief in 1996. He was a member of Post 200 of the American Legion in Hampstead and Christ Lutheran Church in Trenton. He enjoyed camping and bluegrass music.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Douglas Scott and Natalie Sprinkle; grandson, Douglas Seth Sprinkle; and granddaughter, Amy Clair Sprinkle, all of Hanover, PA; sisters, Elizabeth Melton of Westminster and Shirley Pollock of Finksburg; brothers, Herbert Sprinkle of Berlin, PA, Melvin Sprinkle of Hampstead and Robert Sprinkle of Arendtsville, PA.

The family will receive friends Monday, November 19, from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at ELINE FUNERAL HOME, 934 South Main Street, Hampstead. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 20 at Christ Lutheran Church, 16530 Trenton Church Road, Upperco with his pastor, the Rev. Michael C. Adams officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
