Life Story for Malcolm Sneen

Malcolm Sneen
“What is a Malcolm Sneen?” That’s what our mother asked when she first heard our Dad’s name. She was 19, he was 21. 2 weeks later he asked her to marry him. 57 years later, they have created a legacy of love that includes 4 children, 8 grandchildren, a great grandson, and more friends and extended family than we can possibly mention.

So to answer the question of what IS a “Malcolm Sneen?” The long version is a husband, father, grandfather, friend to all. Son of Eva & Ben, he was born on August 8, 1939 in Menomonie, Wisconsin and grew up in the small town of Durand. He was quiet, steady, funny, respected, kind and loving. He loved a good time and always had a twinkle in his beautiful baby blue eyes. We could write about his 40 year career with the Federal Government, his love of golfing, his many hobbies, etc. But our Dad was a man of few words. So in that spirit, the simple definition of a Malcolm Sneen is “a good man who loved his wife and family above all else.” He was quiet with words, but we always heard him loud and clear. He didn’t have to say it, he lived it. And we learned it. He would want this to be short, simple and to the point. So Dad, here you go… You are the best man we have ever known. Your life is an example to everyone of how it should be done. Your love of Mom, of us, and your priorities in life are our guideposts.” We promise to make you proud, take good care of Mom and honor and celebrate all that you have taught us in how we live and love every day.

Mal left this world on December 28th and is survived by his wife Joanne Sneen, daughter Sandra Pagnotti & her partner Paul Mayhew, daughter Kirsten and her husband Ed Clarke, son Erik Sneen, and daughter Jana and her husband Mike Poling; grandchildren Alee and husband Keith Sado, Annie Pagnotti & fiancé Max Maier, Joe, Jesse & Hope Clarke, Sam, Sophie & David Poling; great-grandson Luke Sado; brothers Bill and Jim Olson and late brother Marshall Sneen.
