Herbert W.  Wessel
Herbert W. Wessel, 90, of Hanover, PA and formerly of Hampstead, MD passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at the Homewood at Plum Creek Health Care Center in Hanover.

Born May 23, 1928 in Scaggsville, MD, he was the son of the late Herbert W. and Gertrude Hines Wessel. He was the husband of Mary Fisher Wessel, his wife of nearly 67 years.

Mr. Wessel was a lifelong dairy farmer. He was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hampstead for over 60 years. He was a past president of Maryland Cooperative Milk Producers, past vice-president of the American Dairy Association and a past member of the Board of Directors of National Milk Producers Federation. Upon retirement his hobbies were woodworking, genealogy, collecting and restoring antique tools, cars, tractors and farm machinery. He was active in many local and national organizations related to the hobbies.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter, Joyce Wessel Raezer of Springfield, VA; sons, Tom Wessel and Philip Wessel, both of New Oxford, PA; brother, Donald L. Wessel of Milton, DE; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Interment will be private and a memorial service at the Homewood at Plum Creek Retirement Community will be held at a later date.
