Life Story for Calvin Leroy Sproul Jr.

Calvin Leroy Sproul, Jr., 86, of Ocean City, MD, formerly of Reisterstown, passed away on May 29, 2019 in Salisbury, MD. He was born on October 31, 1932 in Baltimore, MD to the late Calvin Leroy Sproul, Sr. and Florence Katherine (nee Howard) Sproul. He was married for 63 years to Mary Ellen (nee Brailsford) Sproul.

Mr. Sproul was a safety engineer in the local restaurant industry. He was a U.S. Marine and served with distinction in the Korean War. He was one of the “Chosin Few”. He was past President of the following: American Society of Safety Engineers – Chesapeake Chapter, 4th District Democratic Club, Reisterstown Lions Club. He was a lifetime member and Vice Commander of the Owings Mills VFW Post 521. He loved boating, fishing and crabbing.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ellen Sproul of Ocean City; son Calvin L. Sproul, III and his wife Janice Davis-Sproul of Timonium; daughter Kathy E. Burns and her husband Rick Burns of Bel Air; son Steve H. Sproul and his wife JoLee Sproul of Cockeysville; son Brian P. Sproul and his wife Michelle Sproul of New Freedom, PA; grandchildren Adam, John, Meghan, Chris, Dean, Jenny and Brett and great grandchildren Elli, Lucas and Finn.

Family will receive friends at the Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown, MD 21136 on Wednesday 3-5 & 7-9pm. Service will be held on Thursday, 10am at the funeral home. Interment in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery.
