Laraine E. Harden, 71, of Manchester, passed away peacefully Thursday April 16, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Westminster, MD.

Born June 22, 1943 in Baltimore County, MD, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Charles and Emily Tyre Phelps. She was the wife of the late John M. Harden.

Prior to retirement, she had worked as an administrative assistant with MBNA. Mum Mum enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. She also loved animals, especially dogs and cats.

Surviving are her son, Lester W. Pruitt, III of Manchester, MD; her daughter, Lisa A. Spartin of Wilmington, DE; two brothers, Joseph Phelps of Westminster, MD, Kenneth Phelps of Catonsville, MD; two sisters, Janet Hood of Catonsville, MD, Ava Bonebrake of West Friendship, MD; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; and 10 nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her three stepchildren and their families: Cindy Dryden, Denise Leitner and John Harden.

There will be a reception for her family to celebrate her life on Saturday May 2, 2015 at a family member’s home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Pitties and Purrs Rescue Inc. in care of Academy Animal Hospital, 5915 Belair Road, Baltimore, MD 21206.
