Obituary for Catherine "Jane" Mejia (Rawlings)

Catherine "Jane" Mejia, 68, formerly of Hampstead passed away Saturday June 6, 2015 at the Long View Nursing Home in Manchester, where she had been a resident for nearly four years.

Born September 10, 1946 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Starr Rawlings. She was the wife of William H. Mejia, her husband of 37 years.

She attended St. Michael's School in Baltimore. Prior to retirement, she had been employed by C&P Telephone as a supervisor and had worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield. She was a member of Hampstead Baptist Church. She enjoyed camping with her family and her pets.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are son, Michael Benbow of Westminster; stepdaughters, Ruth Anne Hindman of Finksburg and Deborah Anne Bonin of Eldersburg; sister, Gerri Benner of Severn; and seven grandchildren.

She was predeceased by brothers Bill and James Rawlings and twin sister Joanne Martin.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 South Main Street, Hampstead. Her pastor, the Rev. Chris Brammer will officiate. Interment will be in Hampstead Cemetery.
