Obituary for Beverly Jean Solomon (Golden)

Beverly Jean Solomon (Golden)
BEVERLY JEAN SOLOMON, born Beverly Jean Golden was the second oldest of six born to the late Minnie Bell Golden on July 18, 1931 in Mecklenburg, County, North Carolina.
She departed this life on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 5:00 p.m., in the midst of Jonas, the blizzard of 2016.
Jean as she was affectionately known attended Mecklenburg County Schools. After moving to Baltimore at age 11, she worked and enjoyed residing with her Aunt Arrah before reuniting with her family once they all arrived in Maryland, making Baltimore their permanent home. Years later with dreams of becoming a model, she moved to New York City where she worked and resided with her best friends Ruthie and Eddie Hazel.
Jean reunited again with her family in Baltimore and shortly afterward she gave birth to her only child, Gina Renee’. She dedicated her life from that moment to being a loving and devoted mother to her daughter. Everything in life revolved around her daughter. She worked for State Optical Co. for several years until she met and married John Solomon. Her joy was doubled when she became the grandmother of her first grandchild Ciaire, Her family grew when her daughter married Bill Green and added sons Ryan and Michael to give her life greater joy and a greater purpose.
From there she devoted her life to being a loving grandmother to her 3 grand-babies. She regularly attended Union Street Baptist Church, visited Westminster Church of God and Crosswinds Church of Westminster. Everyone who knew her loved her bold personality. She was a strong willed, highly opinionated, kind and loving sister, wife and mother who showered her nieces with an abundance one of kind “Aunt Jean” kind of love. Miss Jean was the favorite of all the teenagers in the neighborhood and a dear friend of those she became close to in her community.
Jean enjoyed holidays, going out to dinner, and shopping. She had exquisite taste in clothing. Her culinary skills were amazing! She truly loved cooking and was an excellent baker. Her pound cakes would make you want to “slap your mama” as they say. She loved Sam Cook’s music, reading interesting books, watching old movies and keeping up with current events. She would say the craziest and funniest things which made you either laugh hysterically or want to pull your hair out; but that’s what was so wonderful about her, she was truly genuine. She highly impacted everyone she came in contact with. If she loved you, you knew a love eternal.
Jean leaves to honor her life: three siblings, Bettye Golden-Holloway, Wilburt Golden and Velma Golden-Screen, two brother’s in law: Johnny Holloway and Decker Screen; one daughter Gina Golden; three beloved grandchildren: Ciaire, Ryan and Michael; one son-in-law: Bill Green; and host of truly loved nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends Monday February 1 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Eline Funeral Home, 934 South Main Street, Hampstead. Pastor Art Monroe will officiate. Interment will be in Hampstead Cemetery.
The family of our dearly departed Beverly Jean Solomon sincerely appreciates the many expressions of love and kindness, concern and prayers. In memory of the life of my mother, we would ask that you find it in your heart to make a donation to The Dove House: Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, Maryland 21157, 410-871-7220 or visit carrollhospice.org
