Obituary for Douglas X "Doug" Womer Sr.

Douglas X "Doug"  Womer Sr.
Douglas X Womer, Sr., 91, of Butler, MD passed away on June 23, 2016 at the Maryland Masonic Homes in Hunt Valley, MD. Born April 3, 1925 in Sparrows Point, MD, he was the son of the late William and Roxie (Middleswarth) Womer and the husband of Mildred Y. Womer.

Doug served his country during WWII in the US Army. He worked in the Marine Division at Bethlehem Steel for over 38 years. He was a lifelong member of the Butler Volunteer Fire Company, and served as its Treasurer for 18 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 30 and Masonic Lodge 183. He enjoyed horseshoes, family cookouts, and tinkering around the farm. His family remembers him as being thrifty and always putting his family first. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Mildred Womer; three sons: Douglas X Womer Jr. and wife Leila of Scottsdale, AZ, Dwight Womer and wife Laurie of Westminster, MD, Duane Womer and wife Diana of Hampstead, MD; two daughters, Diane Foster and husband Jackson of Poulsbo, WA, Debbie Rochowiak and husband Bernie of Forrest Hill, MD; 13 grandchildren: Dawn Blackmore and husband Matthew, Dwight Fritz, Jackson Foster, Bryan Womer, Daniel Womer, Kathryn Womer, Elizabeth Fullmer, Patrick Rochowiak, Scott Rochowiak, Rebecca Rochowiak, Lora Womer, Melanie Womer, Duane Womer; 9 great-grandchildren: Jordyn Blackmore, Cody Blackmore, Matthew Blackmore, Andrew Blackmore, Cash Foster, Blake Foster, Riley Fritz, Kinley Fullmer, Eliana Fullmer; 1 great-great-granddaughter, Everly Blackmore and his faithful dog Ike.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 26, 2016, 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St, Hampstead, MD. A service will be held on Monday, June 27, 2016, at 11:00 am at the Funeral Home, with Pastor Bob Brookman officiating. Interment will be in Black Rock Cemetery.
