Betty R.  Hershfeld (Roberts)
Betty R. Hershfeld, 88, of Hampstead, MD passed away on August 15, 2016 at the Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, MD. Born September 27, 1927 in Frederick, MD, she was the daughter of the late W. Maurice and Gertrude (Lakel) Roberts and the wife of A. Carl “Bud” Hershfeld.

She was a graduate of Frederick High School, class of 1941 and attended Western Maryland College. Betty went on to nursing school at Union Memorial Hospital and graduated in 1948 as an RN. During her nursing career, Betty was a faculty member and performed private duty nursing at UMH, was Director of Nursing at the Maryland Masonic Home and had been Secretary of the UMH Alumni Association. She was a member of the Tuesday Group That Met On Wednesday; member and organizer of the Glitzie Red Hat Gals, member of the Baltimore County Baptist Church and a member of University Baptist Church.

In addition to her beloved husband of 68 years, she is survived by her two sons: Steven R Hershfeld and wife Susan of Manchester, MD, James L Hershfeld and wife Kimberly of Manchester, MD; four grandchildren: James Hershfeld, Robert Hershfeld and wife Jaclyn, Ryan Hershfeld and wife Molly,Victoria Hershfeld; two great-grandchildren: William Hershfeld, and Colin Hershfeld.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm & 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Eline Funeral Home, 934 South Main Street, Hampstead, MD. A service will be held on Monday, August 22, 2016 at 10:00 am at the Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Miller officiating. Interment will be in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
