Book of Memories

The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Edwin Powelson can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Lew Keyser III (Lewie) & family

We are so sorry to hear of Mr. Powelson's passing. He was a living legend, an icon at North Carroll High School. While I didn't play any sports that he coached, he always believed in me as a musician, especially the one that he asked to play The National Anthem at all of the sporting events. My mom told me that the recording I made for him after I graduated, he played for many years until the cassette tape broke! It was an honor to know him. My favorite story (there are literally millions) was during gym class one morning. He needed some upperclassmen to paint the lines on the field for the football games for the weekend. A few of us students were supposed to stretch a piece of rope from one end to the other, and then paint over the rope. That was a good plan for the first few lines, until we realized that the process was slow and tedious. We noticed that the old lines were still faintly visible, so we decided to just paint over the old lines, free-hand style. We never heard the end of it from Coach, since the lines were nice and wavy, not the straight lines that he had hoped for! Oops... Thanks for everything, Mr. Powelson. Our condolences to the family.
