The Hummingbird Moth

Years ago I saw my first Humming Bird Moth. It was an amazing little creature. It moves like a hummingbird and and it unfurls it's long tongue to sip nector. My cousin Richard and I were talking one day an he described something he saw in his garden. I told him that it was a humming bird mouth, and he was just as excited as I was to be able to see one of these beautiful little moths. I personally haven't seen one in years.
Richard died today at the age of 58. He loved nature, he respected life, and he loved all creatures, big and small. As a kid he would bring home all the little animals that fell from their nest, or were seperated from their mothers. He would feed them and raise them and then turn them back into the wild. I was sitting at my kitchen table about 3 hours after Richard died and I looked out my door, and guess what  I saw. It was a humming bird moth among the flowers on my deck.
To me Richard is telling me that he is free from the confinds of this world, and that he is where he loved to be more than anywhere else. Among the flowers and back out into nature. I love you Richard, And I know you are happy again.
